My Voicemail Message

Today is a momentous day. I changed my voicemail message. I did not just change it to any old voicemail message but instead I made it a super tech scene geek voicemail message. My voicemail message is a greeting provided by Robert Scoble (pictured). I would like to thank Mr. Scoble for his humongous generosity in taking time out of his extremely busy puppet schedule to record my voicemail message for me. If you want to hear the message you’ll have to find a way to meet me and get my business card.

…In all fairness Loren Feldman of 1938media does deserve a real big thanks for making my awesome voicemail message a reality

New Theme

I’ve been usin the default wordpress theme for a long time and I’ve finally decided to update to a real theme. This is a k2 theme customized for me by Wil Cudahy who is a great graphic designer. I’d love suggestions on what can be improved, and I do plan on posting more, just need to find the time to post.

Barack Obama

I support Barack Obama.

Last week I submitted my absentee ballot for Los Angeles County. I voted for the Obama-Biden ticket. I believe that this ticket provides the best opportunity for America to regain the international revere that it once had. Before the days of Bush and Cheney America was one of the best, if not the best country in the world. The regime suffered many setbacks and will likely be forever known as the preeminent failure in leadership in the United States.

I think that Barack Obama and Joe Biden can fix what is need of fixing: healthcare, the economy, international diplomacy, energy and many other topics. I may not agree with Obama’s stance on certain issues. in fact there my views more closely resemble that of the Green party but I understand how the United States political system works and am willing to vote for a viable candidate in an election this important, despite the fact that I’m basically 90% compatible with the Green party (everything but nuclear power) and only about 70% compatible with the democratic party.

I am voting for Barack Obama for president because I know that he can lead our country, and I feel strongly in stating this as such. I believe so behemothly in this that I travelled to Nevada two weeks ago to help get people out to vote early, and will be travelling again to Nevada for election day to help with the get out the vote efforts there. I know that I am participating one of the greatest political movements in American history and I encourage you to particpate alongside me.

PS: No on 8, the proponents have resorted to absolute insane advertisements and the reality is that our country was founded on the principles of equality and Prop 8 can only set us back a few hundred years in both tolerance and equality.

New Stuff Coming

New Stuff will be coming tonight or early tomorrow morning, I’m grabbing a few videos from Barcamp Los Angeles 6 and it is really interesting stuff…also i’ll be trying to get some more videos up as I’m just learning to use FC and some other editing stuff.

Busy and bad times

I’ve been busy and the world economy has seen some bad times. Because I’m busy, working my ass off to survive in this horrible economy I’ve been unable to post on the blog that much. I’m currently working on two startup projects, my regular job, and a couple of other major projects (both which most of you will never get a chance to see :[) I’ll be back blogging before you know it. Stories in the pipeline include a review of the new Statzen, one month lookback on TC50, and a review of the Dash Express. Those are just the stories I’ve already started working on, there are many others that may come up soon so stay tuned. I’ll hopefully have something new up soon and if there is an earthquake I’ll blog about that as I have in the past. Also be sure to follow me on Twitter and Pownce or on any other of a number of sites (I post different things on each site) by going to http://andrewfielding.me to find links to my profiles on various social networks.

Enjoy life,

Santa Monica / El Segundo Earthquake

Within the last 10 minutes a 3.0 earthquake hit in Santa Monica (though the USGS says that it hit El Segundo). More info to come soon but it was felt across L.A. According to Twitter people felt it in Beverly Hills and one person categorized it as a “very odd” earthquake. I’ve attatched both quotes and a link to the USGS site.

Twitter releases a new Interface

Today, September 18, the popular microblogging platform, Twitter released a new user interface. Tabs have been move to the right side and other small changes have been made. The overall redesign makes Twitter a lot more ’slick’. I don’t know what else there is to say so I’ll show you the new design.

Seesmic Lays Off Employees

Note: This article, though published on September 18, was written on September 16 and reflects my views and the facts (as they were known) at that time.

On Monday Seesmic let go of three of its employees. Two of these people, Sukhjit Ghag and Rachael Joy, were major faces in the Seesmic community. Sukhjit’s “Unboxing” program was a favorite of many users and Rachael’s “Newspop” segment started insightful discussions among the community by interviewing movers and shakers in various topics. Both of them were also very active in the community, so much that one Seesmic user actually had a search made that read “Sukhjit”. Both Rachael and Sukhjit often posted outside of their Seesmic sponsored segments and participated in a variety of discussions and topics. Recently both had been at TechCrunch50, with Sukhjit interviewing DemoPit companies and Rachael interviewing the VIPs including Ashton Kutcher and 1938media’s Loren Feldman.

Previous Contest Winner

We had a contest last week for a FREE DimitriTheStud.com t-shirt and we had a few entries. It was a very simple contest with the only requirement being to use a real e-mail address and comment. I put the names in a hat and did a drawing. Watch the video after the break to find out who won. I’ll also be running a new contest soon so stay tuned.

New Blog Format

I have decided to change the format of viewing articles on the Randomness from Andrew Fielding blog at andrewfielding.me. Instead of showing full articles on the main page there will be links that allow you to click to see the rest of the post. While most blogs do this simply to increase page views (and therefore revenue) I am doing this to help track statistics (though Statzen doesn’t require this). I also figure that it is a good idea to get used to it this way so that if and when I do decide to put ads I will not have to force my users to change the way they navigate the site solely for monetization purposes. I don’t envision having to put ads up on the site at all in the near future but it is always good to plan ahead. Continue reading ‘New Blog Format’
